Staff Accountant

About the Job

This position is responsible for performing key accounting functions and providing financial guidance and support to the assigned business units, under the direction of the Company’s Controller and CFO.

Responsibilities

  • Extract data in the most efficient manner possible to compile reports showing real-time information in a relevant and user-friendly format. 

  • Verify, allocate and post details of business transactions to accounts and sub-accounts. 

  • Reconcile and balance accounts. Research and correct errors. 

  • Drive month-end closing process and analyze financial results vs. budget, forecast and prior year’s performance. 

  • Act as a liaison between Accounting and assigned business units to ensure vendor invoices are processed accurately and timely. 

  • Assist with annual budgeting process. 

  • Identify and implement process improvements within the Finance/Accounting functions to drive efficiency and allow more time for value-added activities. 

  • Establish and maintain procedures and controls to ensure proper use of company assets and liabilities and tracking. 

  • Prepare reports and information for external auditors and management as requested. 

  • Manage the General Ledger and Accounts Receivable for the assigned business units. 

  • Prepare and analyze profit and loss statements for assigned business units. 

  • Train and supervise members of Accounting staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent public or private accounting experience required; professional auditing experience desired. 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience extracting data from data tables using ODBC; preferably from a SQL server environment. 

  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP required
